Patch Management - Most of our customers require 99.99% or greater uptime for their hosted infrastructure. This requirement leaves one with 1 hour (or less) allowable downtime per year for any reason, making unscheduled patching out of the question. Other customers may require patching activities at several sites, with a large number of units at each site, making a quick response difficult.

Companies like Microsoft and RedHat release software updates and patches to their operating systems on a monthly basis. Installing such patches ensures that your server solution remains up-to-date to fix potential software bugs, software vulnerabilities, operating system vulnerabilities, and server performance issues. Patching servers takes time and usually requires a reboot of the server. To help take the load off our customers, Host Ventura offers a patch management solution. As part of this solution, we will test all new updates and patches that are released in a testing environment. Once adequate testing is performed, the change control process is being initiated such that the updates and patches will be applied to your server and your server will be rebooted (if so required) during the agreed maintenance window.

We also give you the option of re-scheduling the patches if the normal maintenance window is inconvenient. Notifications of such activities are sent approximately one week before the patches are performed as a reminder.

Change Control - is used for identifying and maintaining changes. The Change Control Procedure is a process of creating a formal method for identifying, documenting, evaluating, and communicating all changes. Our Change Request Form is a formal document where the requester describes the changes that need to be applied to the system.  The form records the required change as well as recommended changes and estimated time of making the change.

The Change Request Log provides a register of all previous changes (versions).

The flow of Change control procedure is as follows:

3.    Determine whether change request should be evaluated
4.    Analyze change request
5.    Assess need for escalation
6.    Make implementation decision

Email Security - You may already know that email is insecure; however, it may surprise you to learn just how insecure it really is. Website Security
- Our SSL Certificates offer true 128/256-bit encryption ensuring that your data is always secure. Customers look to their browsers to ensure the sites they are connecting to are secure and authentic. SSL certificates from Host Ventura come from GeoTrust, the industry leader in SSL Certificates.

Some compliance mandates require encryption, while other policies or standards may require critical data protection. SSL Certificates help you demonstrate compliance and provide the necessary encryption to give both you and your customers the peace of mind to transmit sensitive data such as credit card or social security information.

Hardware Service is performed after a potential hardware failure has been identified by the HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM). This may be by an on-site engineer or an HP Technician, depending on the type of failure, equipment in use and the SLA that is in place for the failing device.

Due to redundancy, most hardware replacements should require no down time and can be executed accompanied by the 'minor change' process in order to guarantee full restoration of redundancy.

Storage Systems generally require more in-depth troubleshooting and a service request/case will be initiated with HP such that the failure or reported error is properly and effectively evaluated and resolved.

Although most changes may have no or little impact on the performance, there are of course cases where different measurements have to be taken either because the failure is causing a disruption in service or downtime is needed to replace the faulty part.

Our goal is to ensure your server is running 24x7x365. To help keep your server running at peak performance, our Monitoring solution can be setup on each of your servers. This monitoring solution watches various functions of your server’s ability to communicate within the network and gauge the responsiveness of your applications.

Once a monitor is set up, it will be polled on a regular basis ranging from ten seconds to five minutes to verify it is responding correctly. In the event the monitor stops responding, our highly trained staff of support technicians will be notified immediately, around the clock, and steps will be taken to correct the fault.

All of our critical systems are monitored constantly by default, but in addition to this we extend the use of our monitoring systems to our client, such that they can monitor their applications, hardware and services as they fit right.

A VPN is a private network that uses a public network (usually the Internet) to connect remote sites or users together. Instead of using a dedicated, real-world connection such as a leased line, a VPN uses "virtual" connections routed through the Internet from the company's private network to the remote site or employee.

Remote-Access VPN - Remote-access, also called a virtual private network (VPN), is a connection used by a company that has employees who need to connect to the private network from various remote locations.

A corporation that wishes to set up a large remote-access VPN will outsource this to an enterprise service provider like for instance Host Ventura. When doing so, we then set up a network access server (NAS) and provides the remote users with desktop client software for their computers. The clients can then connect via their current Internet connection the NAS and use their VPN client software to access the corporate network.

Site-to-Site VPN
- Through the use of dedicated equipment and large-scale encryption, a company can connect multiple fixed sites over a public network such as the Internet. Site-to-site VPNs can be one of two types:

Intranet-based; when a company has one or more remote locations that they wish to join in a single private network, an intranet VPN to connect LAN to LAN will be required.

Extranet-based; when a company has a close relationship with another company (for example, a partner, supplier or customer), they can build an extranet VPN that connects LAN to LAN, and that allows all of the various companies to work in a shared environment.
